REM Research Group, based in our Brenham, Texas office (1 hour west of Houston, 1.5 hours east of Austin), works to advance and adapt our technologies to meet unique customer needs, as well as to develop new cutting edge technologies for many applications.   Current key research includes developing solutions for additive manufacturing technologies (3D printing of metals), including work on components for NASA’s Artemis Mission, as well as the development of technologies and processes for US Air Force implementation.

As a third-generation family owned business, we are a close-knit team of roughly 50 employees based in Texas, Connecticut, Indiana, and England. 

Role Summary: 

REM Research Group (RRG) is seeking a Research Chemist who will play a critical role on the RRG team, both developing new technologies and adapting/optimizing existing technologies.   These technologies include chemically accelerated vibratory finishing, chemical polishing, and associated formulae, characterization, and processing parameters.  The Research Chemist will work in collaboration with our Senior Research Chemist and other team members with key focus areas including: laboratory processing, characterization, and data analysis; process design, adaptation, and optimization; formulation design, adaptation, and optimization; wastewater neutralization and associated calculations; technical content generation and presentation; collaboration with and support of equipment engineers; data and recordkeeping; environmental, health, and safety support.

Qualifications:

  • MS in Chemical Engineering or associated field of study (equivalent workplace experience will be considered). 
  • 1-3 years’ work experience in laboratory/industrial setting
  • Experience with the following will be preferred:
    • Profilometry
    • Metallurgy
    • Additive Manufacturing
    • Mechanical Engineering/Design
    • Ability manage multiple complex projects with requiring short turnaround times
    • As REM Surface Engineering is bound by ITAR regulations, all applicants must be E-Verified and documented U.S. Persons / Citizens.
